As a child you don't realise how much it costs to feed you, how much time your parents spent washing your clothes and working hard to get you that Christmas present you really wanted. So on 23rd July, take the time to say a big t

We've been waiting forever, we really have. I don't know how I've coped for over a year without a new series of GOT. Well, actually I do know how I've coped, I've watched the whole lot all over again, and again. But finally, it's very nearly here! Series seven! Woo hoo! Happy Tape Measure Day!
Yes you read that right, it's July 14th, not April 1st. There really is a Tape Measure Day! The chosen date for Tape Measure Day hasn't been chosen at random either. There's a reason for it, and that is, that on this day, in 1868, American Alvin J. Fellows filed a patent for his new invention, the retractable tape measure! Of course even back then tape measures were nothing new. The Romans used strips of leather with marks on to measure with, and in England, James Chesterman had created a

Do you ever have a flutter on the gee-gees?
I do like to place a little bet on the horse racing once in a while, the Grand National is a must of course. I have a friend who always seems to win. I've asked how they do it. Surely they have some secret system, or they do a lot of research into the history and form of all the horses. Perhaps they scrutinize the weather forecast and know which horses run best in the rain or whatever. But no, apparently they just pick a name they like! So how come they always win and I always lose? I alw
