Yesteryear Number Plates
Tony Richards a freelance photographer is keen to find out the tale behind snaps of an old camera he picked up at a car boot scale recently. Mr Richards, aged 38, of Leigh Road, Daisy Hill, said: “I came across a small leather case with an old Kodak Vest Pocket camera. Government orders review of number plates recording cameras Home secretary Theresa May has ordered a review of the Automatic Number Plate Recognition system that records the licence plates of up to 14 million cars each day. The government is to look at restricting the access to the database, which contains around 7.6 billion images. The number of cars registered in Northern Ireland rose by 15% in the first quarter of this year compared with the same period a year ago, new statistics show. Data released by the Department for Regional Development showed that in the first three months of 2010 a total of 24,325 new vehicles were registered for the first time in the province, up from 21,069 a year earlier.
