Dateless Registration Numbers
Dateless were released prior to the suffix plates and whilst they have been discontinued on the mainland, Northern Ireland still issue dateless plates (these can be seen as Northern Irish by them having an I or a Z in them). Northern Irish plates are still valid on the mainland and are a great way to get BAZ, DAZ and CHZ type number plates. Because they are dateless they can go onto any vehicle regardless of its age.
Current Registration Numbers
First released in 2001, the current style registration numbers increase every year in March and September with 2 different ranges to identify when it was released. Anything from 1 to 50 is in March and anything from 51 to 99 is in September. You cannot make your car look newer than it is so if you have a 57 registered vehicle (released September 2007), you cannot put an 08 plate on it (released March 2008).
