For the first time ever, Liverpool will play host to a UFC event. The Liverpool Echo Arena will see Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson up against Darren ‘The Gorilla’ Till in this Welterweight bout on May 27th.
A truly momentous night for Liverpool
This is going to be an amazing night for Liverpool, for more reasons than one. It’s the first time Liverpool has hosted the UFC Octagon, so for starters that’s pretty special. But, two of the stars fighting on the 27
th were born and raised in Liverpool. They’re certainly going to get a lot of support on the night!
The two Liverpudlians are #7 ranked Darren Till, and Molly McCann. Till will be fighting the welterweight No 1 Stephen Thompson over five rounds. Molly ‘Meatball’ McCann goes up against Gillian Robertson. This will be a UFC debut for McCann, but she does already hold the Cage Warriors flyweight world title so she’s certainly got what it takes.
